XLR is the layer under everything Gil Ortega builds — eighteen plugins, 157 skills, and the protocol that keeps the output honest.

Five skills pulled out of the paid library. They read your own numbers, your own page and your own offer, and tell you which part is quietly losing money. No setup, no connector, no call.
One email. No card, no trial, no call booked afterwards. Unsubscribe whenever.
Same spine underneath all three. Start wherever you're actually stuck.
The system layer. Eight departments that run the whole funnel — what to sell, who to say it to, the page, the emails, the ads, and the one thing to do next.
The LinkedIn Recruiting Engine. Reaching people who actually fit, without sounding like everyone else in their inbox — signal maps, context anchors, and what to say after they reply.
The command layer. Gil's protocol for deciding what the AI is allowed to hand back — the reason nothing in this ecosystem invents a statistic to fill a gap.
Who's behind this
Thirty years in direct sales, lead generation, affiliate marketing and performance-based growth. He has built companies from scratch, scaled them through systems, and sold them — and watched companies with genuinely great products fail quietly because nobody built the systems to grow them. That gap is what Chief Rainmaker exists to close.
A few chapters along the way. One of Southern California's largest independent event promoters, putting Snoop Dogg, Janet Jackson, Sheryl Crow and Sublime on stage. A 3D animation startup taken from 67 users to 40,000 in nine months. A customer acquisition company started with fifty dollars, scaled to $2M+ per month, exited seven figures. Then a decade building marketing data infrastructure — identity resolution, audience engineering, real-time behavioral targeting — deployed with fifty-plus agencies and brands including ZEISS, LendingTree and Walmart.
Marketing changes.
Human behavior doesn't.
The tools evolve, the platforms shift, the dashboards get prettier and the acronyms multiply. Companies still need the same fundamentals: clear positioning, a strong offer, trusted proof, consistent follow-up, and a measurable path from attention to revenue. That's all XLR is — those fundamentals, built into something you can run.
